PRODUCTION AND COSTS.

PROBLEM FOR FARMERS. Increased production is a good motto and offers scope for enterprise on the part of the farmer, but allied with that, and perhaps more important, is a decrease in cost of production. It is a feature that is stressed in all other forms of mnufacture. And the farmer needs to endeavour to get moie output from the same number of stock by having better quality and better, more-up-to-date methods. This is demanded by the ever increasing and keener competition from other countries. Feeding and the cost of producing feed of all kinds, are essential features in economy of results. Farmers can gain much knowledge from the departmental experts and from the experimental areas. And in this respect South Taranaki is fortunate in having good keen men and farms easy to reach. Farmers should all take ad vantage of the field days, on which they see the experiments made and have an opportunity to meet and discuss th e matters with the officials, who are ready to impart all information ii their power.
