No little amusement was caused in the Matamata S.M. Court on Thursday, when a solicitor announced that he could bring' a “ respectable ” J.P. as a witness if anything further was needed to clinch his side of the case. Evidently, even the prestige of a “ respectable J.P. was not sufficient to bolster up a weak case, for it did not overawe the Magistrate, for the solicitor’s client lost the case.
