LICENSING MATTERS.
(TO Tin: KllITOB.)
Sir. -I am informed that a writ luw been served on the member* of tinI’uluutua Town Licensing Connnittco at the instigation of tho laoenaed Victualler*, and to which it is rumored lam a jmrty. Now, Sir, 1 emphatically deny having anything to do either directly or indueetly with the matter, and challenge any person to prove to the contrary. As a matter of fact l have not troubl.d myself aliout licensing affairs si non my victory ou the Ikh Juno, when our renewals were grunted. I admit having been a party to signing the petition to oust the former Committee, ami for the following reasons. It came to iny knowledge that it was the intention of some of the Committee to close my hotel, and thus deprive me of a living for myself and family; and support Me*-rs Stewart's and Christiansen's applications only. If such was not the case, I ask Messrs Hughes, Sedeole, Naylor, Wilson, and Keese to deny it through your columns, and thus assist me to clear up the would-be mystery iu licensing mutters. —I am, Ac., D. Chews. Mangatainoka, July 11.
