The Pahiatua Star. (Published Tuesdays and Fridays.) TUESDAY, JULY 8, 1890.
At yesterday'* meeting of the County Council Cm Miller and Whileouibe endeavored to get a resolution passed offering the Postmaster-General a part of the section on which the Council Chamber stand* for a Post Office site. Til* resolu. tion was not carried, the Chairman arguing that even if they conld give away the ratepayers property, the situation was not central—it was as much out of the way as the present one. We quit* agree with this view, and are of opinion that a determined effort should be made to have a site fixed near the Mangahao Hoad, which is undoubtedly the most central position for all. It is rumored that the Government have already accepted a portion of the Police Reserve as a site, but there is nothing to prevent, we should think, another being fixed upon.
