Eketahuna.

(From our own Correspondent.) CONCERT. A concert was given here on Tuesday evening last by the school children, to raise funds for the school. The programme was a long and varied one. The singing was perfect, and the elocution was the best 1 have ever heard from children. To give the items on the programme would occupy a great deal of space. The Burlesque Rand by the children was exceedingly humorous, and was loudly encored. The Swedish drill was gone through without a single hitch. Mr Rayliss occupied the chair. Great credit is due to Messrs Bennett and Wardlaw and Mrs Maunsell and Miss Morris for the manner in which the children were brought out. The people of Eketahunahavejustcau.se to feel satisfied with tho teachers of the school. From the behaviour of the children I should say that there is a great improvement since Mr Bennett took charge. Mr Wardlaw who has been temporarily tilling the second teacher’s position here for a short time is about to leave us, which is much regretted by all who know him ; hut of course we could not expect a gentleman of Mr W’urdlaw’s ability to occupy a secondary position, as 1 believe lie is high up in the standards and comes with good recommendations.
