School Children’s Treat.

The annual treat to the children of the Pahiatua School was given on Saturday, and must be pronounced in every way a grand success. Fully 200 children (of course not all attending school) were present, besides between (>(• and 70 adults, and from the time of assembling at 11 o’clock till about 0.30 fun of all sorts was briskly kept up. There was an ample supply of eatables and drinkables, which in the eyes of the children was nn item of vast importance in the day's programme, and they showed their appreciation by doing ample justice to the variety of good things placed before them at lunch and tea. One thing we should like to see in future is a change of place for bolding the treat. The children see enough of tho school ground all the year round, and there are many places within reasonable distance tlmt might be selected with advantage -a short drive alono would make the day one to he remembered by the little ones.

The success of Saturday's treat was mainly due to the hard work of Mr and Mrs Yeats.
