A curious history of how twin chit 1 dren lived and died in sympathy with each other was told on January 26th at an inquest held near Ongar (Essex). The mother, who is the wife of a munition worker, said the children were apparently quite healthy up till Tuesday, and were sleeping side by side. When she went to them she found that one seemed ill, and she called her mother, who assisted her to bath it. The child did hot recover. She went upstairs, and found that the other child was in the same condition, and it died in the same way a quarter of an hour later. Dr Allen said that, in his opinion the cause of. death was convulsions, brought on by gastric catarrh. Replying to a juror, the doctor said it was certainly very strange that the children should both die together in this way, and he could only account for it by the fact that they were exactly the same age and children of the same parents, and, therefore, were affected by the same conditions at the same time. A juror, said there seemed to be a sort of sympathy between the two right through. The jury returned a verdict I of "Death from natural causes."
