A short session of Parliament is rendered necessary by the meeting of the Imperial War Cabinet, and tne Imperial Conference in June will bo opened, by his Excellency the Governor-General on Tuesday next at 2.30 p.m. The Minister of Defence has received a cable message intimating that one of Now Zealand's hospital ships has reached a port of call ‘ ‘ all well.'' The Minister has also received word of the arrival at a port of call of a steamer with a number of New Zealand aviation cadets on board. Under the law Mr P. 0. Webb, member of Parliament, now imprisoned, cannot be allowed to take his seat in the House, and probably he will resign before next session.

The Germans have been hard hit. Von Hindenburg considers the front too much extended. It appears everything was staked on the main throw. The Now Zealanders made a successful counter-attack on Sunday between Hebuterue and Auchauvillcrs, practically gaining their whole objective. All perished in the flames except those who were not bayoneted when trying to escape. The Australian political dispute has ended between Eyan and Hughes. The United States have made loan to Britain another fifty million pounds.
