she Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated London 23r’d Feb., 1918, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot). Meat.—Moat continues in active demand, market poorly supplied, supply falls short of the demand. Supplies consist chiefly of New Zealand and Argentina lamb, each Hid; United States frozen beef, Argentine and Brazilian chilled beef, in each case selling at hinds Hid; fores 9id. . Butter and Cheese. —No change since last report. In active demand with short supplies. Wheat.—Business is curtailed owing to the absence of offers for account of Government. Official quotations have not changed. No. 2 Northern Manitoba and No. 2 Hard Winter, 765. Oats.—Market firm especially for landed. American white 61s 6d; (mutilated word hero) Western Canadian 6Bs. Hemp.—Manila and New Zealand market quiet but firm.
