THE following regulations are gazetted under the hand of his Excellency the Governor-General in the New Zealand Gazette of 21st February, 1918, under the provisions of “The Animals Protection Act, 1908 ’ ’: — 1. Red Deer stags and fallow deer bucks may be taken or killed within the Marlborough Acclimatisation District from the 27th day of February, 1918, to the 30th day of April, 1918 (both days inclusive). 2. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Blenliem, and the Postmaster at Havelock, on payment of a license fee of £l. 3. No licensee shall take or kill more than six rod deer stags or fallow deer bucks, and no red deer stag shall be killed carryng antlers with less than eight points. 4. No doe, hind, or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever; and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him. ■ 5. Nothing therein contained shall extend to authorising any person to sell any deer or portion thereof. 6. Regulations as to deer “tags,” per New Zealand Gazette No. 40, Vol. 1., of 20th May, 1909, page 1408, shall be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereof, shall return all unused “tags” to the secretary of the Marlborough Acclimatisation Society, Blenheim, immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which such “tags” have been issued, together with a statement of-the number of deer shot. 7. Any person committing a breach of these regulations shall be liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding £2O. For fuller particulars see N.Z. Gazette. R. WANDEN, Hon. Secretary.
