NATIONAL EFFICIENCY BOARD.

A meeting of the above Committee was held recently, at which were present: Messrs G. Anderson (in the chair), H. A. McCormick, F. C. Fell, W. P. Henderson, and the Hon. Sec., Mr R. D. Fell. Mr C. P. Harris sent an apology for inability to attend. In regard to Territorial Camps and Parades it was decided that April is the most suitable time for camp in this district, and the attention of Territorials and Cadets is drawn to the fact that those employed in essential industries, such as farming, will not be accepted at a voluntary camp unless certificates signed by employers be produced' stating that his services can be spared. Forms for this purpose can be obtained from the District Commander, Captain Hardy, Blenheim, As a result of enquiries made by the Efficiency Board, most of the Fire Insurance Companies make it sufficiently clear that clauses re< garding unoccupied premises will not be enforced on men actually on active service. The Hon. See. will furnish further details as regards particular Companies it referred to. In view of the great difference in price as between seedy and clean wool, it was decided that the question of the treatment of seedy wool in New Zealand was one which the Efficiency Board should take up. * There are still a good many First Division men who have been drawn in ballots but who have so far failed to report, and as the knowledge of the whereabouts of these men is of national importance, it is suggested that it is the duty of all good citizens to advise the local police of any case where the whereabouts of any of these defaulters, or of any suspicious characters of apparently military age is known, in order that the case may be investigated. j
