UNION S.S. COMPANY.
STATEMENT BY SIR JAMES MILLS. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Sir James Mills has consented to the publication of n message, the text of which is as follows: —I may explain that the general position will not be materially altered. The share capital of the company has always been largely held outside the Dominion, and to-day Now Zealand holders are equal to only about three tenths of the total capital. lam glad to take this opportunity of assuring ‘you that the arrangement with the P. and O. Company will not in any way affect the arrangement or the methods of the company, while its headquarters and control will be urfder the same hands as hitherto and remain in the Dominion. You may rely on the interests of the Dominion being conserved, and I may go further and say that in my opinion greater shipping facilities through allied companies will be at the disposal of the public than wore possible before. Signed (James Mill.).
