Valuable Wild Flowers.

Chemists in various places are advertising for supplies of belladonna, better known perhaps as the deadly nightshade. Of this it is the leaves which are of value, though in the autumn the root is perhaps worth more. Equally valuable in medicine is the foxglove.

Dandelions grow everywhere, so that it should not be difficult to obtain a supply of the roots. Coltsfoot leaves, usually found in clayey, waste places, are also used medicinally, as are the leaves of the agrimony, whose tallish spikes of clustered yellow flowers are so common a sight hesicie most roads during the summer.

Balm, a sweet-smelling, bushy herb, is seen more frequently in gardens than by the roadside, but marshmallow is very common, as is yarrow, in the summer.

The common valerian, or "all heal” is pretty widely spread, its head of small pinkish or white flowers being known to most ; in this case it is the root that is of value. The Board of Agriculture also calls attention to the tansy, whose brightyellow buttons are so conspicuous beside the roads in some parts of England.
