BUTTER AND CHEESE. The Department of Agriculture,_ Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated London, 26th May, 1917, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, arc average market prices on spot) : Butter: Following maximum prices fixed during the next two weeks: —N.Z. 208 s; Australian, salted 2025; Irish creamery, salted 2045; Argentine, salted 198 s; Danish 218 s. Maximum cheese prices remain unchanged. Market has a downward tendency. Danish butter, 202 s to 204 s salted; N.Z., salted 194 s to 196 s 9d, unsalted 194 s to 198 s; Australian, salted 188 s to 1925, unsalted 190 sto 194s;' Irish creamery, salted 192 s to 1965, unsalted 194 s to 200 s; Argentine, no official quotations, no arrivals.
Cheese: Market is easier; buying is confined to immediate requirements (mutilated words here). Canadian, white and coloured 102 s; States flats 158 s to 160 s (mutilated word here); States flats, quotations are nominal. Imports probably under Government control.
