THE WAIRAU BRIDGE

“ Visitor,” writing to the editor of the Marlborough “Express” says: Sir, — Whilst recognising the utility of the new Wairau, bridge at Renwick as a valuable connecting link between two rising and productive districts—the L’elorus and the Wairau—there are certain defects about the structure which should be remedied. Firstly, the bays provided for the convenience of traffic are too small, and I doubt if two 6 or 8horse waggons could pass conveniently. I hope that I am a very poor proph°t, but I firmly believe that before many moons have passed a serious accident will occur through the narrowness of the approaches. At present they are that uorrow that I doubt if it is possible for two vehicles to pass. The latter matter is one which requires very immediate attention, and the responsible authority should take action to have the lot of the travelling public relieved from danger. Don’t wait until a serious accident happens, take action.
