LAWN TENNIS
(By Twister). The annual championship and handicap tournament held under the auspices of the Marlborough Lawn Tennis Association takes place in Blenheim at Easter, commencing on Good Friday, and will be continued the following Saturday and Monday. The programme comprises 7 championship and 6 handicap events. Amongst the former are included a singles championship for ladies and one for men, which are open to Marlborough players only. Last year the Blenheim tournament attracted a record number of entries, and it is expected that the present one trill be equally successful. This being the first year of the local club’s affiliation to the Association, we hope to see some of the members avail themselves of the privilege by taking part in this tournament. Entry forms may be obtained ifrom the secretary. Budding champions are reminded that there is nothing like open tournaments to improve one’s play, and opportunities like the present should not be allowed to slip by. Anthony Wilding, G. N. Doust, and Alfred Jones have been selected to represent Australasia in the Davis Gup matches in England next June.
