NOTES FROM DEEP CREEK.
[From our own Correspondent]. Mr R. Gardiner had the misfortune to meet with another accident on Saturday. This time he cut his leg with an axe he had just sharpened. It will probably be several weeks before he is able to resume work. Mr F. Smart has nearly completed the repairs to his tramline, while Mr 0. W. Smart lost no time in getting to work replacing the burnt out portions of his line. The hauler belonging to the latter has been bronght down to the mill after its enforced isolation in the bush. Both these mills are expected to be in full swing again within ten days. Many are taking advantage of the continued dry spell and are busily engaged grass-seeding. Mr E. Hart is building a fine new house —an indication of the prosperity of the district. Work at the Golden Bar is proceeding apace, and the clearing process at the, battery from the effects of the recent “ avalanche ” of quartz is now being carried out.
