Election Predictions
WHICH WILL BE CORRECT 7 Auckland, Last Night, The Prime Minister left Auckland for New Plymouth to-day. He returns to; Wellington on Wednesday; He is confident that his party will be successful at the general election. Discussing the prospects of the Re--form Party on Friday the Leader of the Opposition, Mr W. F. Massey, stated that judging from his information there are no less than fit Government seats in danger, while there are only 6 Opposition seats that can be regarded as doubtful. Gommenting on this estimate this afternoon, Sir Joseph Ward said that as a general principle a party leader does nqt give out the expected results in detail prior to a general election. « J, am quite satisfied," he continued, <* that the information obtained by the Leader of the Opposition must either be from a very uuireliabte source, or else buoyed up with false hope to convey a favourable impression to excite • the sympathy and support of places that are iu doubt, From the have received I can, say that if 24 Government seats are in danger, then, upon that basis of assumption, all the Oppdeition seats are in danger. I think it trill be found to be about as accurate as the information Mr Massey has received faom the source to which he refers. In the ordinary course we must until after election day to learn who is\mora correctly informed. My own opinion is that we are going to win some seats from the Opposition at the present elections.”
