Rosewood is bo called because when first cut it exhales a perfume like that of a rose. Roses never grow upon the tree which produces it, A seaweed of the South Pacific often grows to bo 30 or 40in. in diameter, and 1,500 to 2,000 ft. in length. It has no root in the proper sense, the nourishment being absorbed from the water.
