KILLED AT CRICKET.

AN EXTRAORDINARY ACCIDENT. Nelson, Last Night. On Saturday afternoon, during the progress of a cricket match between the Dovedale and Moutere Cricket Clubs, on the latter's ground, a collision occurred between two of the players, named Hall and Eban. They both endeavoured to catch a ball, and in the rush to do so they violently collided. Eban quickly became unconscious, but afterwards so far recovered that he was able to walk part of the way to the hotel, about half a mile distant from the cricket 'ground, and it was then thought Hall had been the most injured, as he seemed to be suffering most. Soon after reaching the hotel Eban again relapsed into unconsciousness, and he expired about two o'clock on Sunday morning. Medical aid was obtained as quickly as possible, but the doctor from the first considered ' the case a hopeless one, as Eban was suffering from concussion of the brain, and it is believed an artery of his heart was injured. It appears Hall was in a stooping position, owing to the sun's rays being in bis eyes, and Eban 'first struck his shoulder, and immediately after their heads clashed together. Deceased was about twentythree years of age, and was shortly to have been married. His fiancee was at the cricket match and witnessed the accident.
