A PROFITABLE TRADE.
Sydney, Dec. 12. It transpires that communication with stowaways found under cargo aboard the Eastern had been established by sawing through the flooring between the Chinese passengers’ quarters and the hold, and the Opening being carefully concealed. An officer passing below noticed a Btnall saw mark, and thus discovered the opening. It is understood that the shippers of the stowaways aro Chinese members of the crew, who divide £BO for each stowaway landed in Australia.
