The first trousers in their present shape were introduced into the British, Army in 1813, and tolerated, as a legitimate portion of‘evening dress in 1816.
The ■ first London directory was printed in 1677 ; tho first “Post Office Uirectory” in 1800. The former contained sixty-four pages, with tho names of 1716 persons.
The first striking dork was imported into Europe by the Torsians about the year 800 A.I), it was brought as a present to Charlemagne, from Abdella, King of Persia, by two monks of Jerusalem.
