EXPLOSION OF CARTRIDGES. Adelaide, February 6. The largest fire here for many years gutted Harrold, Cotton, and Company's ironmongery warehouse, The stock included a consignment of cartridges, which for a time during the height of the fire kept up a hot fu-illade on the buildings on the opposite side of the street, rendering the work of the firemen dangerous. The damage is roughly estimated at £75,000. The insurances total £67,300, including National (New Zealand) £6OOO, Standard (New Zealand) £SOOO, and South British /4000. J Pellets from exploding cartridges injured two firemen, but not seriously. Previously the firemen courageously removed 150 cases of cartridges and 200 pounds of gunpowder from the building, and this is believed to be still intact.
