Picton Hospital Board.
The monthly meeting was huld-on Wednesday last. Present Messrs Cullen, Riddell, Perano, Oxley, Bragg, and Captain Harris. In the absence of the Chairman, Captain Harris was voted to theohair. cobuespondekoe. From Miss Millington, resigning her position as nurse at the Hospital, owing to illness, and .thanking the Board for its consideration. The resignation was accepted. From Mr Erskine, Town Clerk, Havelock, forwarding cheque for £l2 15s 6d, his Board’s contribution to 111st March. From the Valuation Department, re rate roll, and applying for cost of levying last year’s Sounds’ rate. From the Secretary, Wairau Road Board, enclosing cheque for £BO 10s Bd, that Board’s quarterly contribution.. From the Land and Income Tax Department, applying for list of payments of Bounds’ rates up to date. . From the Secretary Wairau Hospital Board, giving statement of amounts due by patients from ;the Picton District admitted to the Wairau Hospital, and, later, advising that others bad been admitted. After some .discussion, it was; resolved, on the motion ■of Mr Brigg, that the Secretary be instructed to write to tbe Secretary of the Waicau Board to the effect that most °f [the patients mentioned in the list were able to pay, and requesting that Board ' to collect the amount owing* . GENERAL. ’ ' The doctor’s return for the month showed 14 inmates, of whom two had been relieved, one cured, and one had died. • . . The following tenders were accepted : General supplies, Messrs . Greensill and Co.; funerals, Mr J. J.; Hebley; firewood, Mr H. v E. Smith ; - meat, Mr W. Webster. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Hon. 0. H; Mills with respect to the installation 6f telephone communication between the Picton Post Office and the Hospital, members generally considering it very necessary 4 that such communication should be provided. It was resolved that . Miss .Melville, appointed temporary the Hospital during Miss Millington’s absence, should be offered the latter’s position. / f Miss C. S. Gullery wss appointed cook at the Hospital, in place of her sister, who had resigned. General accounts £55 10s 2d, and charitable aid £2O 4s, were passed for payment.—Picton Press.
