At the Magisterial enquiry into the wreck of the barque Ben Avon, the Court found that Captain Dixon had acted carelessly, but as he had on board a duly licensed and experienced pilot, it was of opinion that the case would be met by ordering the master to pay the costs of the enquiry, /15 us. The certificates of the master and the second officer were returned. Wiapawa, November 21. A remarkably violent hailstorm raged in the Wansted district for three hours yesterday. Hailstones as large as eggs killed lambs and sheep and ruined crops. A girl was knocked senseless by the stones. Dunedin, November 21. The Patriotic Fund Committee wish immediate' applications from contingenters permanently disabled, as they intend to distribute £BOO, the balance of Lloyd's fund, without delay. The most deserving cases are to receive first attpntion. The price of flour was reduced today to £g 103, the bakers foho.viug by reducing the price of the four-pound loaf sixpencs.
