Methodist Church.
The quarterly meeting of officials connected with the Havelock Circuit was held at the residence of MiHart, Okaramio, on Wednesday last. Rev. IT. Foston was in the chair, and, considering the wet night, there was a good attendance of office-bearers. It was reported that the annual November effort had brought in a credit of £IB 9s Bd ; of this amount £ll 10s Hid had been paid to the Trust account and £G IBs Bid to the Circuit account. Also reported that Synod bad recommended a grant of £2O for next year, and that sanction had been given for the securing of a Parsonage. The membership was reported to he the same as last quarter. Income for the quarter was £0 Hs Bid more than the expenditure, reducing the Circuit debt by that amount, leaving a present deficiency of £ll IGs Id on Circuit Fund. T•> balancesheet as read was adopted. Havelock Sunday School Anniversary collections were sanctioned for the fourth Sunday in January. The school was reported as satisfactory. The plan of appointments as arranged and carried out during the quarter were considered to have been highly satisfactory. Rai Valley had been opened up as a regular preaching place. Havelock morning service, while the attendance might have been better, had been financially and otherwise a success. Extra service had been given during the quarter by Mr W. W. Avery, of Blenheim, and Mr A. W. Lightband, of Brightwater; thanks were ordered to be sent to these gentlemen. The following resolution was carried unanimously“ That this meeting, representing the Havelock Methodist (jhurch Circuit, desires to place on record its appreciation of the services rendered to the Church at Mahakipawa by Miss Jeffrey, and wishes her much happiness in connection with her recent marriage to Mr W. A. Harding, formerly Society Steward at Cullonsville, who also did good work for our Church at Waitekauri, and who is now connected with our Church at Opunake.” A copy of the same to be sent to Mrs W. A. Harding. The following office-bearers wore nominated: —Circuit Stewards, Messrs P. W. Pope and Edward Hart; Society Stewards, Havelock, Messrs F. W. Pope and Thomas Lovell ; Sacramental Steward, Miss Foston ; Superintendents of Sunday School, Mrs F. W. Pope and Mrs Foston ; Okaramio, Mr E. Hart; Sacramental, Mrs Hart; Canvastown, to be appointed; Cullensville, Mr Josiab Bryant; The Grove, Mrs Brown ; Havelock Suburban and R ii Valley, to bo appointed. It was decided to bold special Harvest; Thanksgiving services and Festivals during the present quarter. It was also deemed advisable to start a Circuit magazine, to be called the Havelock and Felon ns Methodist Quarterly, the first issue to be published about the middle of the present month.
The next meeting was fixed for
