Assault on a Nurse.

Auckland, December 3

A sensational incident happened a few nights ago on a loneiy road at the new western springs on the outskirts of the city. A young asylum nurse was accosied by a man who struck her with a stone and then threw her to the g ound. The woman, however, resisted bravely, and succeeded in getting on to her feet again. Further struggles ensued as toe nurse made her way along the road, and on approaching a cottage she screamed violently. Her assailant then released her, and, producing what seemed to be a revolver fired. The woman put up her hands and was wounded in the thumb. The man then made off.
