SKELETON FOUND. Christchurch, August 10. The skeleton of a man was found on the Port Hills yesterday, and near it a gun was lying pointing to the head, and in the pocket a number of cartridges. There was a bullet wound in the skull. The skeleton had apparently been lying there for twelve months. It has not yet been identified, but the police think it is quite probable that it is the skeleton of a man named Otto Marsschebloch, a jeweller, who suddenly disappeared about a year ago. MURDER CASE. Wellington, August 11. The trial of Somerville* on a charge of murdering a man named Herbert, in Masterton, concluded last night, when the jury returned a verdict of "Not Guilty, on the grounds of insanity." He was sentenced to imprisonment during the Colonial Secretary’s pleasure.
