Irish Affairs.

London, March 15. Twelve thousand pounds have been subscribed in a fortnight in Dublin for the purpose of resisting Home Rule. Intense excitement prevails in Ireland. Meetings in opposition to Home Rule are being held throughout the provinces, even in Cork and Waterford, At a special meeting of the Synod of the Episcopal Church of Ireland, the Primate declared that Home Rule would suppress the Protestant faith and subjugate Ireland to Papal dictation. Inquiry showed that only twenty churchmen in Ireland approved of Home Rule. March 16. At a meeting of 5,000 Unionists in Dublin, composed of Catholics and Protestants of all classes, resolutions protesting against Home Rule were carried. Archbishop Plunkett declared that Ireland was being sacrificed to the whim of a consummate political mischief maker. The meeting was charaterised by immense enthusiasm.
