The General Election.
TO THE EDITOR. Hir, —The triennial general election is with due economy of considerable cast to the country. In connection with this I should like to know the gross cost of polling the nine votes at the French Pass, and also why such a bungle was made in sending the deputy returning officer there by such a round-about way as Havelock to Nelson, thence by pilot-boat. I fear it is another proof of the old story, “ penny wise, pound foolish.” Can you enlighten me ? I am, &c., Voter. December I|.,
