LONDON November 28. It is understood that Sir Edward Guinness, of Arthur Guinness My Co., becomes a partner in the new of Baring Bros. 'Mr T. C. Baring, M.P., who is President of the re-formed company, places the whole of his fortune at its credit. „ . , Messrs J. Hodgson, Francis, and John Baring, the other directors of the firm, retain the right to buy out shareholders at a heavy premium. Since the particulars of the guarantee and re-construction have been made known, an amazing reaction has set in, and the prices of colonial stocks have risen £ to Id per cent. The report that Dr Koch had been inoculated with consumptive lymph is untrue. The doctor is desirous of entrusting the secret of his cure to the Emperor William, and of allowing him to control the disclosure. November 24. The National Steam Shipping Company have commenced a co-operative system with regard to dockers. The Earl of Derby has made a donation of £I,OOO to General Booth’s colonising scheme. Sir John Pope Hennessy will contest Kilkenny North, and not Sir John Gavin Duffy. About three and a half millions of gold are en route for England, and there is a prospect of the money > market becoming easier. At a public meeting held in Cork, the Mayor refused to permit a motion to be put expressing confidence in Mr Parnell. The survivors of H.M.S. Serpent, which was wrecked off the coast of Spain, have reached Plymouth. They state that a difference of opinion existed among the officers as to the course the vessel should be steered, and this led to the disaster. The vessel broke in two shortly after she struck on the rocks. The survivors complain that there was a great scarcity of life-belts on board, otherwise the loss of life would not have been so great. The Standard asserts that on the advice of Mr Gladstone, Mr Parnell temporarily resigns the Leadership of the Irish party, and has nominated Mr Justin M'Carthy as his successor. NEW YOEK, November 24. Over 500 Soux Indians are on the , war-path, and seven settlers have been killed and hundreds of others are fleeing from their homesteads in great alarm. Troops are being sent to intercept the Indians. . A Settler named Teale has been discovered to be heir to the sum of over £12,000,000 which had been locked up in Chancery. AUCKLAND November 24. The United Labor Election Committee met to-night and elected J. M. Shera as a Labour candidate in place of Sir George Grey for the Auckland city seat; The labour candidates for that seat will therefore be W. J. Bees, W. J. Nahwett, J,. M. Shera.
