Leland's Hotel at Siracluse, in New York State, was burnt to the ground last night. Many of the inmates escaped through windows with very little clothing oh, but twenty-five were unable to effect escape and perished in the flames. /. ■. ; -' SYDNEY, ;<; October 17. Haddenrig's shearing station at Nevertire, one of : the finest in the colony, has been destroyed hy fire. Four thousand sheep perished in the flames, and estimated that the loss is fully £13,000. Incendiarism la suspected, as the owner of ; the,-station is shearing with free labour. r Tremendous bush fires are raging at Lismore, an agricultural district situated on the north arm of the Bichmond river, about 520 miles north of Sydney. Vast tracts of territory have been devastated, and the township of Cluhes is in danger. The inhabitants of the last mentioned place are out fighting the flames. . McMillan's Budget statement last night showed that the revenue for the year was £9,426,000, or £97,000 over the estimate. He expects a surplus of £208,000. The Customs show a decline of £133,000, which the Treasurer accounted for by, the recent unfortunate occurrences., - BRISBANE, : October 19. The steamer Pathan from Hong Kong has arrived, here. This vessel had a most tempestuous voyage, and arrived in a badly shattered condition. In the China sea she: encourited a typhoon, during which she was at the mercy of the waves upwards of 70 hours. The bridge was smashed and some of the boats carried away, .All the live stock on board was washed overboard, and as the vessel's bows were stove in the cargo was damaged.
