The present series close on the 10th hist," ": ;■•; ■'.■' ; ';" T >"V; ,-_| Sir Thomas John Peake has been' arrested on a charge of decoying a gentleman, named Edward Gibson into a cellar of an empty "mansion, and it is alleged that while there he obtained from Gibson a key to the: latter's locker in St. George's Club, and removed thereform, and destroyed a number of letters written by Gibson's mistress, also a number of her photographs. Peake is also, charged, with forging the name of Gibson to telegrams.

The Tipperary Bench hearing the charges against the Irish M.P.'s, has refused to hear Mr T. Harrington, their counsel, owing to his frequent insults. Mr Harrington then left the Court.
October 5
The Dockers' Congress has resolved to urge Parliament to prevent the passage of the Foreign Contract Labour Bill and has -decided' that the eight hours' system is unsuitable to dook labour, though vyhere possible it should be enforced.
