The officers elected for the ensuing year were: President, Mr Tissiman; VicePresident, Mr Reynolds; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr Simson; Committee, Mrs Collins, Miss Stratford, and Messrs Lucas, Peake, and Twistelton.

It was proposed by Mr Reynolds, seconded by Mr Lucas, and carried unanimously, That the members of the Marlborough District Institute sincerely regret the retirement of Mr Hodgson from the Inspectorship which he has so worthily held for so many years, and trust h'e may be long spared to work in the cause of education. Eulogistic speeches were made by many of the teachers present. The newly-elected- President promised at the next meeting on the second Saturday in November to deliver an address on Culture. Mr Willmot gave notice to move at the next meeting, That the Education Board be requested to desist in future from publishing reports of schools in the public prints.
