WELLINGTON,

August 14

The first h df-yearly meeting of the Federation Gold Mining Company of Wabamarina was held on Wednesday evening; a report was submitted which mentioned amongst other matters that the Director were of opinion that one . more call (the fifth), would be sufficient to complete the tunnel on to the reef, and it was hoped that shareholders would then be richly rewarded for their enterprise. The balance-sheet showed the half year’s expenditure to have been £lB2 9s 4d; and the receipts £2OO 2s 2d. leaving a eredi. balance of £l7 12s lOd. Tlie Company’s assets were valued at £17,817 10s Bd, these being represented by call-* due, uncalled capital, etc,; the liabilities, on the other hand, only amounted to £lO7 Os 6d. In moving the adoption of report, and balance-sheet Mr L. L. Harris, the Chairman, gave the sharehlders a deal of information concerning the working of the mine, and considered that the prospects were exceedingly bright. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. In reply to shareholders the Chairman said that a call of a penny per share was deemed to be amply sufficient to meet all further expenses for tunnelling on the reef. Messrs L. L. Harris, W. J. Salmon, H. Kemler, R. Skelley, and Dr Wallace McKenzie, were elected as Directors. Mr L. L. Harris being chosen as Chairman. A feeling is gaining ground in favour of putting a stop to the unsatisfactory manner in which the business of the House is proceeding, and probably some arrangement will be made in a lew days to carry on the business with a little more expedition.
