In the grain market in the earlie pction of the week, owing to the tenor of the English cables: business assumed a firmer tone, though prices could not be said to have a tered to any extent. Later on. however, the messages received have led to a still firmer feeling locally, and an advance in prices all round* Tuscany is now quoted ut 2s lid to 2s U^d. Oate show no alteration, and we can only repeat the quotatious of ast week;—Milling ls6£d to Is 7d, stout feed Is 5d to Is s£d, other norts Is 4d, Barley —Values show no change, while business, at the same time, is meagre Best quality 2s 9d to 3s, lower grades 2s 3d to 2s 6d. Heans and Peas:—Beans 2s 5& to 2s 6d ; Peas, feed 2s 6d, Prussian jilues 2s 9d to 2a lOd. Potatoes, 40s to 42s 6d at country stations, according to distance. Gr.iss Seed.—Farmers' lots are quoted at 3s 6d to 3s 9d, according to quality. For town machine-dressed 4s 6d to 4s 9d is demanded, There is now a fair demand for cocksfoot, chiefy, however, amongst the dealers. Farmers' lots range from 3§d to 3fd ; town machine-dressed 4d to 4|d; and for. extra heavy seed dealers are asking 4£d. Da ry produce.—Cheese, 2|d to 3£d • butter, 8d to 9d
Wellington Markets. George Thomas & Co. report produce prices as ~follows: Seed potatoes are .in active request, the various descriptions ruling from £3 10s to £8 lOs per ton, All other leading lines of grain and produce are quite without any features of alteration.
