The New Electoral Districts.

The first important step in allocating the new boundaries for the future electoral districts has been accomplished by the Representation Commissioners in accordance with clause 5, “ Representation Act 1887,” and clause 5, “Amendment Act 1889,” which reads: “ The Commission shall in every case report the names of the electoral districts fixed by them to the Governor, who shall proclaim the same in the Gazette, and such report shall have the force of law from the date of such proclamation, but shall not come into effect until the expiry of the then: existing Parliament, i copy of every; such report, together with properly; authenticated maps of the electoral districts fixed by such report, shall be presented by the Governor to the Houses of Parliament within ten days of the receipt thereof, if in session, and if not within ten days after the commencement of its next meeting.” Notification has been given that the objections will be received by the Boundary Commissioners up to the 21st instant, which has now expired, and so far as we can leam only a few objections have been forwarded. Of the others we refrain from passing any opinion, but the WaimearPioton electorate is the most outrageous mixture of non-faciUties for communication, non-community of interest, and nontopographical features to be found in the allocation from one end of the Island to the other. However, we yet hope the resolutions passed at the public meeting may have some effect, and the old Waimea-Picton boundary adjoining the Wairau electorate be restored.
