The Goldfields.

Mr Hill informs us that in driving a tunnel from the Waikahho side they struck 3i now reef übout 4ft thick with gold showing freely right through the stone. The reef is about 600 ft below the Kapai level. All the other reefs are looking well, and it is expected the company will take the claims over about the middle of next month. We believe that it is not at all improbable that the Gorge Company will resume operations as strong recommendations are being made in that direction. A good road to the Golden Bar and the adjoining reefs is much needed, and seeing the amount of money being spent on these reefs it would be only fair to expect the Government to render substantial aid to have a good road made.
