PELORUS ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the above Board was held on Wednesday, April 2. Present: Messrs John Duncan (in the chair), Davies, Inrnan, and Looms. The minutesi Qf the last meeting ■were read and confirmed. The outward correspondence having been read, letters were read from Menteath and Stavely re British Empire Gold-mining Company; Evan Jones re byerroad at Kaituna; Mines Department re subsidy for roads; Treasury re payment of subsidy on rates; Picton Borough Council re meeting on alteration of electoral boundaries; Harbley Mclntire re culvert near L. Robertson's house; Gerald Fitzgerald, stating Kaituna-Tua Marina road was finished. Mr W. J. Cullen attended the Board i re roads at Cullensville, when exchanges were finally agreed upon. Tenders for works at Cullensville were opened as follows :—P. Keoghan and party 58 chains formation at 20s per chain r three box culverts 20s each, three log culverts 20s each, breach and ford £9, six chains ditcljiiag 5s per chain; John Davies, 58 chains formation at 23s per chain; John Lawson, ditto., 245; Andrell Bros., 60 chains metalling, 20s, 58 chains formation, '2ss, 40 chains metalling, 20s ; Edward. Neil, formation, 225, metalling 10s, total for both contracts £217; John Leslie, both contracts', £320. Neil's tender (subject to alteration) was accepted. Mr" Charles Inman stated that he had seen Mrs McDonald re damage to fencing, and after hearing the Inspector's report the Board decided to allow her 20s as compensation. Mr John Cameron attended the Board re ditches at Okaramio, but the matter was adjourned till the next' meeting to allow levels to be taken. '.\
A petition was also, received from Mr Peter McLean and others in. the Kaituna, referring to the same ditches, and the consideration of the petition was also adjourned. . After passing the usual accounts for wages, &c, the Board rose.
