HARBOR BOARD.
A meeting of the Harbor Board was held last evening, when there were present—Messrs E. K Brown (in the chair), J. Somervell', C. Smith, W. Clarke, J. Whinray, J. Townley, H. Lewis, and H. Clayton. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. The outgoing correspondence was read. There were no reports from Committees, nor was there any incoming correspondence. Mr Lewis moved, and Mr Townley seconded, that Messrs Harries and Lincoln’s account be paid, subject to the approval of the Public Works Committee, together with the Engineer. The motion was carried. Payments to the amount of £lB were passed by the Board. Extbaobdinabi' Business. The question of appointing Auditors for the Board was held over. The Secretary asked whether he could employ a boy to assist him in the oilice work connected with the Harbor Board. The question was ordered to be held over for the present. It was resolved to telegraph to Mr Seed, the Commissioner of Customs, at Wellington, whith reference to the question of Common's wharf, and asking for an answer to the Council’s letter on this subject. Mr Clayton called attention to the want of a lamp at the ferry. It was resolved that the matter be referred to the Borough Council on their next sitting night. The Chairman suggested that placards should be placed at each end of the Taruheru Bridge, warning travellers as to crossing at too great speed. The matter was left to the Committee. The Board then adjourned.
