Te Hapara v. Pat’c.tahi. This match was played at I>avenham last Saturday, where Mr G. L. Sunderland had prepared a first-class wicket. Although the rain stopped the game several times during the day. the Te Hapara team managed to put together the respectable score of 108, of which Reardon, jun., made 34 by good all round play and hard hitting. W. L. L. Rees made 15, not out; W. L. Rees 16, and Sherratt made 10. The Patutahi team made 4'2 in their first innings, of which J. White made 10, G. L. Sunderland 9, and Woodhead 13. W. L. L. Rees made a splendid catch at mid-on from a hard drive off G. L. Sunderland. Being more than 60 runs behind, the Patutahi team had to follow on and made 36 for the loss of three wickets. C. Evans made 20, not out, playing very patiently, and almost in his old form. Woodhead made 10 when he was caught at mid-on by W. L. L. Rees from a terrifically high drive. The rain then came down so heavily as to stop the play for the day. The return match is to be played next Saturday week, at Lavenham.
