A lawsuit threatens to arise out of one of the events of the Marton-Rancitikei Race Meeting. In the hurdle race Hinu came in first, but was disqualified as under weight. The second horse, Parikarangaranga, Was thus placed first, but the stewards ordered Mr Poole, who was working the totalizator, to pay out on Hinu, against which he protested, hut had to obey orders. The stewards gave as their reason for this action that the judge had declared Hinn the winner, although this was before the weighing, and according to the rules, the machine must puy out to the holders of tickets on such horse. The backers of Parikarangaranga have signified their intention of testing the case.
