Passengers : Mesdames Nolan and Ballantyne, Misses Lysnar and Papesch, Messrs Harry, Nolan, Curtis and Stark. The cutter, Deveron, arrived here on Sunday morning from Mercury Bay with a cargo of timber. The Shaw, Saville and Albion Company have issued orders that their steamers shall in future be sailed on the rhomb line, instead of the composite great circle, in order to avoid, as far as possible, the bad weather experienced far south, and to minemise the risk from ice.
