The North Island Railway Loan.
(OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Auckland, Wednesday. The ('harman of tie Chamber of Co amerce received in M mday ten 'thy telegrams from Messrs Stout and Vogel, ill reference to the resolutions passed by the Chamber condemning the intention of the Govern nent to divert the trunk line million loan to general purposes. Both Ministers explain ihe reason of the con se proposed to be taken, and added that whatever is done good faith will be kept as to the prosecution of the North Island trunk line The Chairman of the Chamber also received a telegram fro n Major Atkinson in reply to one asking wiiether it vas true, as Vogel had staled, that \tkinson knew that tie passing of Captain Russell's resolution meant taking the million loan for general purposes. Atkinson, in reply, demes that he knew anytning of the kind, and that there is no justification for touching the loan in question for generil purposes, and could not believe Government would commit such a breach of faith with Parliament
