Mr. Matthewson remarked that nearly all the subscriptions came from the town and all the patients from the country.
A suggestion was made by Dr. Pollen that Hospital tickets of each should be issued which would entitle the holder to nominate a patient at any time during the year free of any further expense. This system had been found to work well at Napier.
After considerable discussion on this point it was allowed to stand over for further consideration. It was resolved that the Secretary canvass the country for subscriptions during the next week, and that a date be fixed for holding a Hospital Sunday. The following payments were then passed : — Nash, £2 ; Benfield, /'ll 19s 8d ; C. O. Fischer, /'i xos ; 'Feat and Friar, iBs;(Mr. Nolan: “ How many eggs can you get for 1 id?”) Aislabie, 2s Bd. ; (Mr. Nolan : “Is there any sausages this time?” Mr. Matthewson: “ No sausages this time.” Laughter); Pollen Y 25 iG. W. Bishop (drugs 2 months) X*33 18s 6d. Visiting committee for the month Messrs. Adair, Booth and Graham.
