DENTAL CLINIC BALL

TE KARAKA SUCCESS NOVEL DECORATIONS (Horaltl Correspondent.) Novel decorations were a featu* c of the Dental Clinic Ball held m the Wailtohu Hall. Te Karaka, on Tuesday evening to raise funds ioi the Te Karaka dental clinic.

Big cardboard shapes of various types of teeth were arranged at intervals along the side walls of the hall, while a large and realistic sketch of a complete set 01 teeth was huno in a prominent position m front of the gallery amid representations of forceps and dental equipment.'Below these decorations wide bands of red, white, and blue were looped round the sides and end of the building.

The front of the stage presented an effective contrast, being banked with vivid winter shrubs and berries, which were used also round the orchestral dais, where Miss L. Ruru s orchestra provided the music. Enjoyable extras were played by Mcsdames F. G, Bcllerby and y. S. Bridge, Miss Juliet Scott, and Mr S. Skeet.

Dancing was controlled by the secretary of the ball committee. Mi. T L. Earnshaw, to whose efforts much of the success of the gathering was due.

In the supper-room the tables wore arranged with scarlet twisted streamers down the centre and vases of camellias and bright seasonal blooms. Here again the purpose of the function was emphasised by original representations of dental requisites. A pleasing interlude was provided during the evening when Mr. EarnShaw presented Miss Joan Cotterill, nurse in charge of the dental clinic, with a dainty bouquet in appreciation of her generous assistance wnb the decorative scheme.
