PLAYER'S LEG BROKEN

ACCIDENT AT HOCKEY

While playing for the Wesleyan hockey team against High School Old Boys on the Childers Road Reserve on Saturday afternoon, Gordon Leech, aged 19, suffered a broken leg, and was removed to the Cook Hospital by the St. John Ambulance.

The accident occurred in the failing light in the last few minutes of the game. Leech, who was the centre forward for his team, was taking the ball into the opposing circle when he collided with the goalkeeper. Leech will be missed from his team, for he is one of the most promisingforwards in the men's senior B section. He is also secretary for the Poverty Bay Hockey Association.
