Employment For Housekeepers "It is wrongly believed by some that .the shortage of housekeepers as due to there .being (fewer domestic employees in the country than previously," said Mrs. C. C. Jackson, Dominion treasurer of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union, at yesterday's annual meeting of the Oisbome 'branch. "Actually there are more housekeepers in New Zealand than ever 'before, hut the shortage has heen created by. the big demand. We want several times the number of women offering." The problem was discussed at the meeting and it was suggested that at the next Dominion conference it might be found .necessary to raise the weekly wage paid under the division's subsidy scheme. The visitor pointed out that in many cases at present the head office was paying •in increased wage because of special an increased wage uadusc <jl circumstances.
