WAIKOHU SCHOOLS

ASSOCIATION MEETS

The annual meeting of the Waikohu Primary Schools' Sports Association ; v as held in the Te Karaka District High 'Schol on Thursday, when a good ittendance of primary school teachers elected the following officers for thsnsuing year:—President. Mr. J. <~ Nicholls, Puha School: secretarytreasurer, Mr. R. N. Grono. Te Kaiaka School.

The association exists to foster sports in all branches in the Waikohu primary schools. The Waikohu group ;omprises the following: Te Karaka, Puha, Whatatutu, Matawai, Homebrook. Otoko, Koranga, Mo'tuhora. Kanakanaia, Mangatu. Wheterau. Waitangirua, Rakauroa, Motu, and Waipaoa.

Each year an annual sports meeting is held/ in 'Te Karaka, when these schools compete in a series of events, ranging from Rugby and basketball to track events. Full information regarding this is sent to all teachers later in the year. The funds raised at this annual .sports meeting are available for assisting schools concerned with the provision of sports material, and applications and inquires should be made to the secretary at the Te Karaka School. This year the association has decided to divide the Te Karaka School into two houses for the purposes of the sports. Each house will compete as a separate entity, and in assessing .he position of the Te Karaka School at the sports, the points of the leading house only will be counted.
