AGED HUNDRED AND TWO

HASTINGS RESIDENT 69 YEARS IN HAWKE’S BAY (Per Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. Believed to be Hawke’s Bay’s oldest resident, Mr. George W. Lines, of Hastings, celebrated his 102nd birthday yesterday. He was born at Salford. Bedfordshire, England, and went with his parents to Australia in 1854. He came to Hawke’s Bay in 1870. He worked in a timber mill. A cottage built by Mr. Lines when he came to Hastings was then the biggest in the town. It is still in use.
